All 3rd graders at elementary schools in Kakegawa participate in a program called “Become a Tea Expert.” They come out of the school and experience picking tea leaves under the wide blue sky.
They enjoy the great nature in our beautiful organic tea farm on the steep slope.
Our staff at the farm are the teachers for them on that day. They begin with morning greeting, “Ohayogozaimasu!” The children blend with the rows of tea bushes and pick the new leaves one by one.
Kakegawa is famous not only producing tons of green tea, but also has many citizens who love green tea. Many citizens from children to elderly are willing to learn about tea.
We hope their experience of picking new green tea leaves during their childhood would remain as a fond memory when they grow up. We also hope they would remember the tune and lyrics of the famous national folksong called ‘Song of Plucking Tea Leaves’ along with their experience.
We plan tea ceremonies for each season with our organic tea products. We do so to have fun and to receive feedback. We have “Tea Ceremony with Spring Breeze” for all friends and volunteers, “Tea Ceremony Under Blue Sky” for children, “Merci Tea Ceremony” in foreign countries, and other tea ceremonies with foreign reporters. One cup of tea at a ceremony can offer a fun time and enrich our lives.
Often we have sweet buns for all the guests; their smiles blossom like the tea bushes. We sometimes have rice crackers and chocolate as we have fun learning about tea.
We have a collaboration tea ceremony mixing with French culture. We enjoy organic deep-steamed green tea with European desserts made by a patissier from Paris. We make friends and embrace wholesome lives during the time we wait for the tea leaves steeped in a pot.
When we go outside of Japan, we tell the benefits of green tea during green tea ceremonies. When we have matcha tea ceremonies, we talk about Japanese culture.
We enjoy a little tea ceremony with our grandchildren at veranda, too. A cup of tea on such occasion makes them feel they are grown-ups.
Tea ceremony is for bringing people together and connecting heart to heart. Tea leaves have different colors each season just as we all have different lives.
Please come join us for our tea ceremony.
